The outer reefs and drop-offs treat snorkelers with turtles, sharks, barracuda, multitudes of colorful reef fish and colorful hard and soft corals while the more protected inner lagoons offer some of Palau's oldest most delicate and fascinating corals. The inner lagoon also serves as home or “nursery” to many of the creatures found on the outer reefs including baby blacktip sharks and several types of rays. These well protected “nurseries” provide a safe place for these creatures to spend the early part of their lives before venturing in to predator and prey world of the outer reef.
